How YOU Can Help!

So many people in our community are willing to stand strong with us, and support single parent families. They are an invaluable resource, and we are sincerely grateful for the time, referrals, the helping-hands, and monetary donations.  These are essential to providing the best program services we can to our AMHH families. Here’s how you can plug in…
  • Bare Necessities Collection
Bare Necessities are items that keep the home running smoothly: laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, paper towel, toilet paper, etc.  Host a donation drive to collect the household supplies from our provided list and bring to our office in N. Ft. Myers.  Surprisingly, the items on our list are excluded from SNAP, or government assistance funds so it is truly a big help to our families.
  • SWFL Santa’s
Every holiday season, A Mom’s Helping Hand helps brighten an often gloomy, overwhelming time of year by providing our families with holiday gifts.  Sign up to sponsor a family and shop from the family wish lists.  Wrapped gifts are dropped off at our office or those that sign up to be a drop off location, usually the first week of December.
  • Birthday Boxes for kids
To Be Determined in coming months – Individuals or groups purchase and fill birthday gift bags with all the supplies needed for “a birthday party in a bag” Start with a fun, colorful gift bag. Fill it with a package or two of birthday plates, beverage cups, balloons, candles, cake mix /frosting, streamers or banners, goodie bags (and maybe some fun treats or toys to fill those with).  Help a family celebrate their child’s birthday!
  • Childcare
We are always in need of childcare volunteers for our meetings so our moms can focus on the meeting and/or guest speaker.  We want to ensure they can come and receive the support and encouragement they are seeking knowing their children are being well cared for in the next room.
  • Annual Bingo & Auction
Fundraising events always need extra help to prepare for the program, many weeks leading up to the program, as well as the day of the event.  We form committees for our Bingo & Auction in May each year, which will be held at Nauti Parrot, in N. Ft. Myers this year.  There will be food, raffles, Bingo, silent and live auctions and fun. Please let us know if you like to be part of an event-specific task and help plan and execute a successful event.
  • School Supplies Collection
Between supplies, new clothes the costs start to add up and for many single parents it causes an undue hardship for those already going through an economic need.  The challenges of not being able to obtain school supplies should not be added to their shoulders.  Host a donation drive to collect the school supplies from our provided list and bring to our office in N. Ft. Myers.  Many of these items need to be replenished throughout the year so for that reason we help our families throughout the year.
  • Amazon
In addition to “usual” monetary contributions, you help us out if you shop on Amazon Smile, smile.amazon.com  and select A Mom’s Helping Hand of SWFL as the  charity you want Amazon to donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases (which is most items). You use your same log in for www.smile.amazon.com
  • Facebook Fundraising
Facebook fundraising from your personal page is quick and easy.  If you have a reason to ask others for financial support on behalf of A Mom’s Helping Hand of SWFL, then Facebook is an easy way to spread the word and help raise funds.
  • Ask friends and family to join you!
Bring your friends, family and co-workers to our fundraising events – we promise a great time!

Picture
A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL is looking for help with their Adopt-a-Family program. The SWFL Santa's Adopt-A-Family Program matches local individuals and organizations with single parent households during the Christmas  season. Many of these families do not have enough money to meet basic needs, let alone purchase gifts.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Adopt-A-Family Program has delivered presents and joy to families for the last five years.

Those interested in participating will be given a Wish List, which will include suggested gift ideas for the adopted family members.  Individuals or organizations can choose to sponsor one or more families'.
Gifts are due to our office by Saturday, Dec. 8. Please contact me if you are interested in participating, and include the number of family members you wish to sponsor.  If you are interested, you can view the details here.
