Happy Holidays!
Hi AMHH Supporters,

This fall we have so many things to be thankful for… All of our families made it through our hurricane season safely.  Some are still recovering but thankful their families are together.  We want to thank our community that stepped up and help so many out in times of need and crisis.  Whether it was by helping an AMHH family before or after the storm or helping in our community to ensure that homes were secure or there was a hot meal after the clean up started, you are appreciated!   We are so thankful for each and every contribution you all have made.  Every year you amaze us!
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Holiday Season!
From all of us at A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL

Christmas Spirit
More families reach out to us during the months of November and December than any other time of the year.  Likely, families are looking for support to help themselves and their children make this special time of year a little less stressful.  They are looking to their community to provide them with the warming spirit the holidays are supposed to bring.  We are so glad to be here to meet the expectations of love and kindness they are hoping to find.  Are you looking for ways to help out families this Christmas? There are so many different ways to help.  Host a Bare Necessities or Toy Drive at your office, collect gift cards, volunteer at one of our many upcoming events.
Have a Christmas party and ask your guests to bring a gift for our moms and kiddos.  Get creative, let us know any ideas you have for contributing to make this holiday season a memorable one for our AMHH families.

We still have 6 of our AMHH families that need a Christmas sponsor before we can assist other single families this year.  If you are interested in one of our families feel free to apply online.  If you are unable to adopt and entire family and would like to adopt one or two from a list, please email amhh@comcast.net

Seek in the City Scavenger Hunt
Attention highly competitive people who think they really know Cape Coral.
From noon to 5 p.m. March 11th teams will use their best detective skills to participate in the first annual Seek in the City Scavenger Hunt.
Teams of up to five people may register at http://www.amomshelpinghandofswfl.com/seek-in-the-city.html for a fee of $50 per team.

Proceeds will benefit A Mom’s Helping Hand of SWFL, a non-profit dedicated to assisting local single parent families and their children.  Funds will help children go back to school prepared with the proper school supplies, toiletry items that are used in the homes daily, and birthday supplies to ensure no child goes without a birthday due to financial hardships of their parents.

Participants will check in at First Baptist Church of Cape Coral where they will be given their list of clues.  We currently have 22 clues and the list can continue to grow as we add more businesses as clue stops and additional landmarks.  The entire city of Cape Coral will be transformed into one big board game.

Clues can include fun facts or details about anything from restaurants to shops to local art.

The idea behind this fundraiser is to help business while helping local families in our community.  What a better way to do that through a fun activity that the entire family can participate in.

Businesses can also use this as a great team building activity.
The first place team will go home with a $200 cash prize.  We will also have trophies and medallions for the second and third place teams.

Event Date: Saturday, March 11, 2017

Event Time:  12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Check in at First Baptist Church of Cape Coral
Registration: http://www.amomshelpinghandofswfl.com/seek-in-the-city.html

Saving for the Future
Saving money (and keeping it saved) doesn’t happen by accident. Successful saving requires a plan, including paying yourself first. What are you saving for? Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years? Twenty years? Do you want to purchase a new home? Save for your child’s college tuition? Travel in retirement? Come out and see how Lenny Cannova, Modern Woodmen of America can help.

Many American's, not just single parents have or will be filling their taxes. This is the best time to find out what you can do to build a better future for you and your children.

If you are a single parent then this is a workshop you don't want to miss. If this is your first time coming to one of our events, please register online at: http://www.amomshelpinghandofswfl.com/events.html

Our very first AMHH Painting fundraiser was so much fun.  A Big Thank You to Masterpiece Mixers Cape Coral for hosting us.  Thank you to all who attended and raised money to support our families. We were impressed by all your paintings and your energy and excitement.  This is exactly what our families need, momentum, support, heroic actions, like the ones you take, to continue to know they are not alone… to see that they are supported.  As fall comes to an end we see the city brighten with Christmas lights.  As everyone prepares for festivities, here at A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL we are preparing for our favorite time of year…the season for giving.

But when they begin to work the program, and see themselves making progress, accomplishing their goals and moving forward, their self-esteem grows. Empower single moms today with the gift of self-esteem.

Going it alone can be a frightening prospect for a parent, raising the kids without the support of a  partner who shares the burdens of teaching them, and protecting them, and running the household. The journey of single parenthood can appear daunting, especially if one has been thrust into that role suddenly. Everything from making sure the kids do well in school to just putting food on the table can become a major stress factor.
At A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL, we make sure single moms aren't alone in tackling those challenges. We share the journey with them.
Our valuable programs and services wouldn't be possible without the generosity of businesses and individuals who contribute to A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL. Each contribution makes real, impactful differences in the lives of single parents and their children.
That's why we're asking you to contribute our 2016 giving campaign, and help us continue supporting single mothers on their journeys. You can find out more about A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL on our website, and you can follow us on Twitter, @SWFLHelpingHand, as we strive to improve the lives of single parents and their families.

We love our passionate volunteers, businesses and community members that partner with A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL.  , The programs we offer are geared toward helping single parents in SWFL. The reward, for single parents and all who help them, is when they complete the journey to self-reliance.

Come out, have fun and support your community!  In addition to providing a fun family event for families, the purpose of the Trike-A-Thon is to raise money to help support single moms and their children in SWFL. The event will encourage good sportsmanship, physical education and bike safety. Each child will race other children in their age group. Children have the opportunity to collect donations to win various prizes. Donations can be collected prior to the event. A Mom’s Helping Hand of SWFL is a 501(c)(3) charity designed to assist struggling single mothers (and their children) while working one, two, sometimes three jobs to support their children; only to realize all of this work and sacrifice means they sacrifice valuable time so important to "raise" the loved ones they are working so hard for.

A Mom’s Helping Hand of SWFL is here to lend a helping hand and let those families know they're not alone via support meetings, donations of bare necessities, training classes (parenting, budgeting, self-defense, job interviewing techniques and general life skills), family fun events, holiday and birthday gifts, school supplies, and resource referrals. These programs can make a world of difference in the lives of a single mom and her children.

Volunteers are the heart of what we do … and the way our mission becomes reality on the ground. If you believe in our mission, consider making a difference by using your time, talents and caring heart to benefit the AMHH families.
There are a lot of ways to volunteer, before you can volunteer we ask you to fill our  Volunteer Application.   You will receive detailed information about all opportunities and their requirements.
The Events Calendar lists dates and details of all our volunteer and fundraising events.

We have several Committees that support our programs and other activities.
  • AMHH Kids: Committee members host quarterly events for the AMHH Kids.
  • Fundraising Committees: This committee supports our fundraising events and helps brainstorm new ideas. Committee members engage in tasks such as soliciting silent auction donations, managing registration, and helping with set-up and tear-down of events.
  • Marketing Committee: This committee works to create community awareness of our mission and works collaboratively on the development and implementation of funding strategies.  Help come up with fresh ideas to reach those in our community that would like to get involved.
  • Planning Committee: This Committee plans events for our moms.  These events will consist of meeting ideas, guest speakers, special events such as mother's day.
  • Community Phone Book:   A resource of community professionals and businesses which are willing to provide their services to our families, and their children, on an as-needed, pro-bono basis or discounted rate.  It also provides a unique and hands-on opportunity for community members to give of their time, talents, and expertise in a way that is rewarding, appreciated and helps to fill needs which would otherwise go unmet.
  • Donation Drive:  Sign up to host a Bare Necessities, Birthday Box or School Supply drive.  We collect items most needed in homes that are used on a regular basis.
