Do I need to be experiencing a crisis to participate?
No. You don't have to be facing an emergency to benefit from encouragement, friendship, educational opportunities, and community support.

Mom Connect is an opportunity for single mothers to build connections, share experiences, find encouragement, and become part of a supportive community.
We believe that having other moms who understand your journey can make a meaningful difference.
What happens at your monthly gatherings?
Our monthly gatherings provide a welcoming environment where single moms can connect, enjoy activities, participate in conversations, and support one another.
Each gathering may have a different theme, activity, or guest speaker.
How do I register for a gathering?

Meeting details and location information are provided to registered participants.
Can I attend if I don't know anyone?
Absolutely! Many friendships begin with someone attending their first gathering.
Our goal is to create a welcoming, encouraging environment where mothers can get to know one another and feel comfortable.
Is childcare available during meetings?
Childcare availability may vary by gathering and depends on available volunteers and arrangements.

Grow With Us focuses on educational opportunities that help single mothers develop practical skills and work toward personal and financial stability.

What will I learn in the budgeting course?
Our seven-week budgeting course is designed to help participants develop practical money-management skills and greater confidence in handling household finances.

How can I register for the budgeting course?
To participate in our Grow With Us budgeting course, you must first complete our Class Registration Form.
After completing the form, you will be directed to the next step in the registration process.

How do I request support from your organization?

Do you provide emergency financial assistance?
A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL is not an emergency financial assistance agency.
Our work focuses on encouragement, education, community support, and specific assistance programs when available.
For urgent needs involving housing, utilities, food, or other essential services, dialing 211 can help connect you with community resources.
Can you help me find other community resources?
While we cannot guarantee assistance for every situation, we may be able to direct you toward community resources or organizations offering the type of support you need.
You can also contact United Way's 211 service for information about local assistance programs.
SWFL Santas: Family Applications
Information for families interested in Christmas assistance.
What is the SWFL Santas program?
SWFL Santas is our annual Christmas assistance program that connects eligible single-parent families with generous donors during the holiday season.
The program is designed to help bring Christmas joy to children while easing some of the financial pressure families may experience.
Who is eligible to apply for SWFL Santas?
SWFL Santas serves eligible single-parent families residing in Lee County, Florida.
Program eligibility includes specific household and dependent requirements. Dependent children attending college may qualify through age 21, subject to verification.
All applicants must meet current program guidelines and complete the required review process.
How do I apply for Christmas assistance?
SWFL Santas applications are accepted during a designated application period each year.
Families must complete the initial application and, if selected to advance, follow the additional Family Christmas Profile and verification steps.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or adoption.
Can I submit an application after the deadline?
No. Application deadlines are strictly enforced so our volunteer team has enough time to review applications, verify eligibility, and prepare family profiles.
Late applications cannot be accepted for that application period.
Does applying guarantee that my family will be accepted?
No. Submitting an application or Family Christmas Profile does not guarantee approval.
Families must complete all applicable program requirements and verification before final approval.
If my family is approved, are we guaranteed to be adopted?
Unfortunately, no.
Although we work very hard to find donors for every approved family, adoption depends on the generosity and availability of participating Santas.
Approval into SWFL Santas does not guarantee adoption.
What documents may be required during verification?
Families invited to document verification will receive instructions about what to bring.
Depending on the application, requested documentation may include:
- Parent or guardian photo identification
- Proof of household income
- Birth certificates or custody documentation
- Proof of Lee County residence
- Other documents needed to verify eligibility
Always follow the instructions provided in your invitation.
How will I know what happens next?
Our team communicates important application updates and next steps using the contact information provided during the application process.
Please check your email regularly, including your spam or junk folder, and respond promptly to requests for information.
Can gifts be mailed or delivered directly to my family?
No. All gifts must be coordinated through A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL.
This helps protect participating families' privacy and ensures gift distribution follows our program procedures.
SWFL Santas: Donors & Family Adoption
Answers for individuals, families, and businesses interested in adopting a family for Christmas.
How can I adopt a family through SWFL Santas?
When family adoption opens, available family profiles and adoption instructions are shared through our SWFL Santas website.

What happens after I submit a family adoption request?
Our team reviews adoption requests and sends confirmation by email.
Please allow up to 48 hours for confirmation and do not begin shopping until your adoption has been confirmed.
Check your spam or junk folder if you haven't received an email.
Am I expected to purchase everything on the family's wishlist?
No. Wishlists are intended to provide ideas and help donors learn about the family's needs and interests.
You are not expected to purchase every item. Our donor guidelines provide suggested gift amounts and quantities, but these are guidelines, not requirements.
How much should I plan to spend on gifts?
Our suggested gift budget is approximately $40 to $75 per family member.
We generally suggest three new gifts per child and one gift for the parent. Providing a Christmas dinner is optional.
These suggestions are intended to help donors plan. There is no expectation to purchase every item on a wishlist.
Do the gifts need to be wrapped?
Please provide new, unwrapped gifts.
Label each gift with the family number and intended recipient so it can be directed to the correct family member.
Gift receipts are welcome, especially for clothing that may need to be exchanged.
When are Christmas gifts due?
For the 2026 SWFL Santas program, the gift drop-off deadline is Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Confirmed donors will receive information about designated drop-off locations.
Can I contact or deliver gifts directly to my adopted family?
No. To protect the privacy of participating families, all communication and gift distribution must be coordinated through A Mom's Helping Hand of SWFL.
If you have questions about a wishlist, please contact our team rather than contacting the family directly.
What if I can no longer fulfill my family adoption?
Please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] .
Early communication gives our team the best opportunity to find another donor for the family.
Can I contribute without adopting an entire family?
Yes! Financial contributions and other forms of support can help our organization serve families.
